About this story
Eleven weeks until the council decides. The greenhouse on Pell Street has forty-one panes, nine of them cracked, and a tomato bed that has outlived two recessions. Orla runs the rota. Sam has been coming since before it was anyone's but his. June is supposed to be at a conference. You showed up because the sign on the gate said HELP WANTED, and nobody has yet asked you what you're good at.
